3.8 is a very solid average rating for something with that many ratings tbh

I think in every album after this the screams lose a lot of their magic. they feel more refined into a metal/metalcore style in the newer stuff while the screams here are just pure emotion. The rough edges to them really give this album an amazing aesthetic.

Yeah, but I'm biased since it's my favorite album (along with Oceanic). Speaking relatively, of course, since things like Vheissu have 3K ratings and a 4.2 and I consider this a genre landmark.

1200 ratings and a 3.8 average is a literal fuck tonne and a very solid avg for anything on this site that isn't bitch-made sput essentials

I touched on this in the review and I think the reason for this is that George really was damaging his voice here. Wade also said they played 300+ shows a year at the time so he was putting a lot of mileage on 'em and that's why you can see that he's totally worn out by the time they made Cardinals.

Lucca you may wanna still give it a go (assuming you haven't) cause it doesn't have any of the things that a lot of people knock emo for, namely the lyrics. On here they don't ever get melodramatic cause they're just fun nonsense mainly so there's no faux-emotional stuff or attempts to be "deep."

I mean, i think the rating is a tad low too. This is top 3 PHC album for me easily.

I might actually do that because that was a good sell, also I see a shit ton of users I trust on here giving this a very high rating. Will report back later.

Also Little girls pointing and laughing is such a fucking high point of the album my god. the way it builds damn. Also some of the most poignant clean vocals on the record. Feels like a mini epic. Also that disonant riff that comes in about a minute and a half is fucking crazy nicee

Yeah and I mean the video for "Waterwings (And Other Pool Side Fashion Faux Pas)" is just pure silliness (as the name would indicate), centering around a danceoff competition and the drummer is wearing rainbow socks with roller skates. This definitely ain't typical emo.

44 Caliber and Pulmonary Archery are really good, although I admit I haven't heard most of the rest
