Just put this one and right away I agree with the drums lacking power
Otherwise though this is making me want to tear my office apart so I consider it a job well done

The drums sounded better on Dirge but they were also too loud there compared to the guitars. And actually I'm finding myself liking this more as I listen to it more.

It might be asshole-y to single this out but there are like 1000 better metal drummer examples than Joey Jordinson. Well written review, I just disagree with it on a few levels. New drummer does a great job. He plays grind drums for a grind band (so just different variations of beating the shit out of them) and does that well. I can't find much difference between the Fitri and the new guy, except maybe the half time parts and fills come off as a little less interesting this time around. He certainly seems to be able to reach acceptable bpms. And I wish the production was bit dirtier, but I think they wear melody well. It's easy to call it generic without saying why, though I do hear that some in Outworn. They'd been hinting at melodicism in early releases and it really comes out here. Also, what's with some folks acting like melody is some alien concept to grind? Discordance Axis is probably the best grind band ever and they're super melodic at times. Nasum can be pretty melodic, too, as well as many others.

The example wasn't about "better" drummers, it was about drummers that hold an integral part to the band's music. Hence why I picked joey as a prime example of being a huge part of a band's sound, because he held s tremendous role in Slipknot.

I mean he did, but imo he's also never been more than a dime a dozen good metal drummer. Maybe I just feel that way cause so many people have imitated him stylistically since Slipknot got big. I dunno. Danny Walker of Intronaut fulfills a similar role of stylistic importance in that band, but is also one of the best drummers in metal, period.

This year's pretty terrible for grind. The only album I'd recommend is Nekro Drunkz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2XabbJMQp4

you're better off listening to the classics of grind if you're new to the genre
