Exactly, and I would go as far as to say that for all his albums. Hard to judge the art and not the artist when the art is more or less the musical enbodiment of the artist (in regards to this album as well as Yeezus and MBDTF to an extent).

You can do both imo, I try to judge Kanye albums as albums, but it's impossible/detrimental to the overall picture to not judge Kanye albums as Kanye albums too.

I think the purpose of the intro to the review is to get a quick glance into Kanye's statements as of late, to see where his mind is atm... I dunno, a couple of quotes from his tweets this year could've served the same purpose. Dude's mind is fucked. up.
