"I used to think that when you died you kind of wandered the world
In a slumber till your crumbled were absorbed into the earth
Well I don't think that anymore the phone it rings no more"
Just gna leave that here.

Jesus Christ, this entire album is just line after line of emotional breakdowns
I called out
I called out across the sea
But the echo comes back in dear

For sure, Man, haven't been able to accomplish any work today, just been sitting in silence thinking about Nick Cave. It's weird, how I've always idolized him for his music, but here at his most human, he almost seems furthest away, as if the stories and distance he's cultivated for himself over decades has completely evaporated and he's reassembling himself from the ground up, as if he's a missing person in full sight

Very relevant description dude, I think the death of his son has shed a new light on him as a person.
Maybe he's rediscovered himself, who knows.

He described it in the doc by saying it feels as if time is elastic - they'll move further and further away from this trauma, but no matter how far he and his family can get, they'll always be snapped back to it. He said that anything he does feels futile, and he doesn't want to try to explain it. To come to terms or reach justifications or acceptance would be a disservice to Arthur

I don't remember if it was this review thread or one of the other Skeleton Tree ones, but I think that's why you were so spot on talking about how cynical the title track is, even if it sounds superficially like some sort of closure or peace

he seemed like he was getting to a good place with 10,000 Days on Earth as well I guess that's all lost now, fucking tragic. I don't know if I'll ever be able to rewatch the scene with him and his two kids in that movie

Is Arthur in that one? That'd be heartbreaking to watch now if so. I still gotta see that one

Ye the t/t is cynical, it's false closure and that's unbelievably sad.

Also liking I Need You a lot, even though it is most like the kind of Cave songs I don't usually care for. I love the synths.
