That may be the case, but I think it's done so well. The only track on Devil that I dislike is the closer

I've been a fan of The Color Morale since Know Hope and this is by far their best album. Garret Rapp has always been an amazing writer, but not a great screamer. i was happy to see that he finally sang on this album. It felt more genuine. The Color Morale has always had a way with lyrics, so I don't understand how this is a "forced sense of emotion". It's actually the complete opposite. They have always written with real and raw emotion and if anyone fails to hear that it's just a shame. Every song on this album is beautiful. While they may be part of that "generic", every band does. Music is awful nowadays because it all sounds the same lyrically and musically. But The Color Morale will always stand out with their deep, meaningful, and emotional lyrics. This is an album that speaks deeper than those "generic" bands. The reviewer just failed to look deeper into this album.

Btw I originally had this at a 3 as well, I really had to grind it before it clicked. But when it did, it clicked hard.

I originally had this at a 3.5, it grew off me haha. They'll never be as good as they were on My Devil In Your Eyes, or the debut

The Devil in Your Eyes is the only decent album this band could make.

@skankhunt69 and @sempiturtle's comments

I remember when I was 16 and listened to contrived gimmicks manufactured by cheap record labels that survive on my allowance.

nah man I know my music taste is 'shit' I just live with it lol. i can't really force myself to like swans/opeth/btbam/all the other sputnik bands. the dear hunter are my favorites though but they're still really poppy and accessible.

The Dear Hunter uses pop elements to make music that is actually good. How long you been roaming the wonders of Sputnik?
