personally lilac wine is the best cover on the album. the only weak track i can think of is corpus christi carol...but nonetheless all the songs are brilliant.

nice review too...i just dont agree with the comment about lilac wine.

I might add Chris Cornell released a song dedicated to Jeff Buckley on his solo album, not with Audioslave.

I've been listening to stuff from this for a short time now... JEFF BUCKLEY IS A BEAST! His vocals are amazing, & I can see why Myles Kennedy lists him as an influence (listen to The Mayfield Four's Fallout, you WILL hear the Buckley similarities & where the inspiration lies, I just noticed XD), such a voice deserves to be praised. I wanna buy this album, urgently

This review made the point that I've been thinking about as well. The track listing is poorly chosen. And Lilalc Wine could have been left out. Hallelujah should have actually been the only cover and the closing track. Maybe I'll change my mind later though..

This album is still one of the best of the 90s.

Hallelujah is pretty much the cover of all time and in this recording up there for the best song ever. The rest of this album is vastly overrated but still excellent.

It's probably just because I heard it first, but I like Rufus Wainwright's version of Hallelujah better.

Like probably most listeners of this album, I've kinda lost the feeling I used to get listening to Hallelujah. I still remember the first time I listened to it, after the last verse it was unbelievable. I migth have actually cried. That's what music is supposed to do, give you a special feeling that you cannot experience no matter how many drugs or sluts you ever use. This Message Edited On 10.27.08

then you're a lucky man.. I do have the same with a few Elliott Smith albums and RATM's self titled though, luckily.

Been digging this again lately and have to bump it from a 4 to a strong 4.5. No doubt that his voice is the main attraction on the album but the other musicians are also part of what gives each song its individual character. No song sounds the same and tbh feels rather like a band playing than your usual singer/songwriter stuff. Add Jeff's flawless performance on top of that and you got one of finest albums of the 90's.
