Countless Skies and Sun's Delusion will be pretty much impossible to top.

Im reluctant to get excited for this considering their other albums are pretty highly regarded when i found them to be simply enjoyable and nothing more. But the way the songwritings being described, i think i might like this a lot.

Had a smile on my face the entire time through, some awesome tracks on here and the vocals sound really dark. I had a good time.

I really love the music, well crafted, good melodies and interesting changes within the songs.

But what ruins this album for me is the singer, he sounds powerless and so monotone, if Mikael Stanne would sing on this, it surely would be a 4 to 4.5 for me, but with the actual frontman this is sadly only a 2.5.

Bringing it all the way from a 4.5 to a 2.5 just because of weak vocals is pretty ridiculous though. I understand vocals ruining an album if theyre bad enough, but Be'lakor vocals arent bad, he doesnt have an annoying, distracting style. Theyre just a bit weak, youd think youd be able to look past it and like it for the instrumental aspect.

But for my tastes this vocalist is really bad, one of the weakest I have heard within the death metal crowd.

idk what youre talking about, its a pretty standard growl, i cant fathom how they would bring down your experience to that degree.

Guess our tastes are just different.

Death Metal bands with vocalists I enjoy are for example:

Cynic

Atheist

Obscura

Sulphur Aeon

Behemoth

Dark Tranquillity

Opeth

Couldn't resist waiting for the preorder to arrive so had to stream. Another stellar album might not quite reach Stone's Reach levels for me but a few weeks of listening should grow even more. Should be a great tour this month.
