Unsilent Death is like one of my favorite 11-minute musical sequences ever and I'm sad that they decided to up the heaviness and production values for their other two albums at the expense of their debut's franticness. That said, still good albums. Idk how this one ranks up against Abandon All Life, tho. Still gud but 4/5? idk

"'Meshuggah is also widely considered to be the heaviest band out there'

fuckin lol"

Exactly. You're proving my point. Someone says "insert heavy band here" is the heaviest band ever and then someone else says "YEAH RIGHT"

It's pointless to call a band "the heaviest band ever" because there will always be a heavier band and people will always disagree about which band is heavier

Well at least we can all agree that Strapping Young Lad are as heavy as a very heavy thing.

Fuck Spotify.

Followed the stream link, heard 10 seconds (which may or may not have been a NAILS song) and got a notification that, to listen, I needed the Spotify app. I have the app, cool, opened it, got subject to a NAILS shuffle with ads.

Wow.

Thank you, park. I wasn't even saying that I think Meshuggah is the heaviest band ever, because I don't think they are and I don't really care. I was just saying it's a silly statement to make because it's subjective and immeasurable.

dbizzles, you need the desktop version of Spotify to hear the album without shuffling or you can pay the dollar to get Spotify premium for 3 months. Not sure if that deal is still going on, but it was the best dollar I've ever spent.

Playing seems a bit tighter than on previous releases. This thing is killer.

Is powerviolence really a thing? I think that is the worst genre tag ever, worse than djent.

"Is powerviolence really a thing?"

Yeah? It's always just been an underground thing and Nails are basically the first band to play it with decent production values to get the non krieg trve punk kids interested. It's like super abrasive hardcore with loads of tempo changes to give you whiplash. Blast / slow chug / blast / punk riff / blast 0:45 runtime.
