I listened to Dig and Nothing to Gein and they both owned. I definitely need to pick up this album.

It's almost a sin to call this nu-metal. It's like calling The Number Twelve Looks Like You grind. Their's just so much more.
I've honestly thought about lowering my rating because of the stupid filler tracks.

How is it a concept album? None of the lyrics give off that impression.
|

Meh. I still find the fillers boring. Filler is filler.

The album is about the evolution of man and various other things. Some of the songs have lyrics pertaining to the use of drugs and what it does to the body, including psychedelics. All of that has to do with Terrence McKenna, who can be heard talking about his theories in the fillers.
There's also some stuff about 2001: A Space Odyssey. Which also carried the theme of human evolution.
That's one thing I love about Mudvayne. There aren't many nu-metal bands out there that would make a concept album, let alone touch subjects such as that. All of these guys seem really intelligent.

I remeber watching their DVD, All Access to All Things and thinking to myself Matt seemed like a very intelligent person. Funny though how it was in an interview where the first thing to come out of Matt's mouth was, "You're not going to ask me to do gay porn are you?"
|
| |
Did they just get dumb after this album or something? They turned into a basic radio rock band after this and, like Thor said, Chad is now in HELLYEAH. They just lost it.

I honestly don't know what Chad and Greg were thinking with HELLYEAH. Still, I don't think they lost it. Sure, they haven't been able to quite match this album, but they set the bar very high with this one.
And they definitely didn't get dumb after this album, The End of All Things, has a concept throughout it too. Not so sure about Lost and Found. I heard there was some sort of concept around it, but I forgot. Something about rediscovering your childhood or something, but I may be way off.
And I checked it again, Josh D. You were right. Also just thought I'd mention my name's Josh D too. Not that it really matters though.

For 7 to 8 bucks, this album is a steal. I'd buy it again for that price simply because I lost my original copy

This cd is not nu metal. This should be in a different section. The L.D. 50 section. All of their other cds belong in the nu metal section, however.

IDK. Math metal seems a more fitting title than nu metal. Especially with the stigma that comes along with the title of nu metal. This album deserves better.

How about just metal? I was at their cd release party for LD50 in Peoria. It was a killer show. They pretty much played the whole cd minus the fillers. Its crazy that theyre as big as they are now. I remember a pre-painted Mudvayne back in the day. They were awesome then as well. Its just weird seeing a band go from next to nothing to being world famous, what seemed to be, overnight. This Message Edited On 11.01.07

Well, its probably because Im from central Illinois and they were extremely hyped around there. Central Illinois is boring as hell so if a band even begins to become big its a big deal. Thus, the seeming to become big overnight.

Just rebought this today. I love the atmosphere of the album, unmatched by its peers.

It does get boring, yes. But does boring mean you didn't like it too?
|

Yea. It bored me to the point of dissatisfaction.
