I mean it's fine to not like this, I might even bump it down to a 3.5 if it rubs me the wrong way enough lyrically, I still think it was musically solid as hell though.

PJ should go back to doing what she does best and start creating depressing fictional characters to dark moody production... I feel like she's not meant for the word of activist folk.

but anyone who doesn't like her album To Bring You My Love is dead to me

The Lyrics are pure pandering cringe and she used to be so much better than this. I really don't know what happened.

As a huge PJ fan I'm pretty sure I know what happened.

She tried being political on Let England Shake, and because she was talking about what she knew it went over amazingly... then she tried applying the same ideas to America and the Middle East, things she has far less experience with and completely fucked it up.

I guess that sounds plausible, but she really should have known better, being the usually insightful and clever artist she is.

Doof check To Bring You My Love or Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea. Those are much better starting points in her discog. Or if you want to hear the political thing done much better try Let England Shake.

Average rating is silly.

This is not Let England Shake, but solid and inspiring work, per usual from Harvey.

I tried 'Let England Shake' when it came out - didn't do too much for me but I'll try it again now I've sat through this one

I love how everyone is worrying about Trump when he has a 0% chance of getting elected

Pretty much how I feel, though I would give it a 3 for now. My favorites from her are Is This Desire? and Stories From the City, Stories from the Sea. I also like Uh Huh Her. So maybe this album just isn't what I like most about PJ. Will have to check out Let England Shake. Sounds like a better version of this.

i may be judging this somewhat unfairly, given that it comes after what i consider to be her best album by a mile, but this really disappointed me

tbh I agree somewhat, while not my favourite of hers Let England Shake really showed a return to form after the ok but somewhat mediocre Uh Huh Her and the good but lacking White Chalk, this is just a massive drop-off for her

God I love White Chalk, but agreed on Uh Huh Her, why does this have a lower average than that again?
