Dude, Ihsahn's cleans are so lovely ;_;

He sounds like David Gilmour on "Until I Too Dissolve".

Crimson is especially accessible if you just hit up the version that's separated into multiple tracks a la Crimson II. I think it's like that on Spotify.

Ihsahn > Abbath

Ok I'm gonna jam this now. I haven't really ever listened to his solo stuff so we'll see how this goes. m/
And I know for a fact already that there's no way this is worse than Abbath, that album sucks so hard.

Tied for album of the year for me. This is what I expected from last year's Leprous album. Not that The Congregation is bad - hell no -, I just wish it was this versatile. I haven't listened to Ihsahn before, but I know him from his collaboration with Leprous and I've come to really respect him as an artist, even if his music is an unknown realm to me. Now, however, after THIS, I guess I have to change all that.

I really want to 5 this, but I'm afraid I'll compare it to the rest of his work and then I'll 5 all of it, too. And then my ratings will be considered troll ones.

First half is lighter, and a bit all over the place, but I adore Disassmebled, My Heart is of the North and In the Vaults. Second half is a masterpiece.

The Congregation was a slight disappointment but still solid. Ihsahn's music might be newer to you because all most talk about is his Emperor stuff. His solo work never gets that much attention when compared.
