I didn't hear anything like that piano riff toward the end of A Voice Born of Stone and Dust. That's prob my favorite part of Echoes.

Listening to the first track now and I kind of sort of like it

First track is the weakest. From Interstellar to the end it's full on.

Not really my thing, I agree that the electronics are boring. If done right this could have a lot of potential for my taste but it's more or less pretty crap.

Enjoyed the review as usual though. Appreciate someone finishing this one for me.
To be honest I just turned it off about 30 minutes in.

Jammed it from my phone's speaker a while ago and it sounded pretty good. [2]

Gonna check, grabbed their EP a week ago and still haven't heard that either.

Agreed so hard about the new album. Just jammed it twice in a row and it's crazy how much of an improvement this band has made in just one short year.

Well, went to buy the new album (without listening to it bar a 10 second sample, just going off people's reactions, but it's cheap) and accidentally paid for this first, before buying the new one too :/
So I'm finally giving this a full on listen and not just turning it off after two tracks. It's alright, not as bad as I remember, but calling this black metal is just straight up incorrect. Half the time the synths are so overbearing that I forget there's even guitar riffs happening until I listen for them, and I'm convinced the occasional screams are nonsensical screams-for-the-sake-of-screams but w/e. It's cool for background music.

This isn't mindblowing or anything but I can't understand giving it such a low score or when any part of this is supposedly going to make me want to dance
|
| |
Yeah I agree, unless it's a slow dance. It's not offensive either imo, just pretty unremarkable.
