clansman this album is such a 6/10, a 'good' album for existing fans, probably won't cause any ripples outside of that

Most parts it's a good listen, but nothing to go back to on purpose.

yeah, that's why I don't understand as well. People didn't like 13 and Super Collider, and every reviewer and media praises Dystopia, but somehow its user rating is barely above 13. waaat?

Being a huge Megadeth fan I have to say this is very disappointing. listen to The System has failed and Endgame, this band could do more than this.

I wouldn't cal this 'disappointing' at all, it's not incredible but it can be a fun listen at times. Plus, for a band way past their prime this is more than decent.

I think being released after Super Collider makes people think this is great by comparison.

Nah, I simply dig this one, no matter how weak Super Collider was in comparison. Still jamming it a lot after three weeks. I even prefer it to The System Has Failed as a whole.

I didn't check out Super Collider so had zero impact on my rating

Yeah, but your rating is also about as close to accurate as you can get, so I guess you're immune. You hear through the facade. As such, you are eligible to play bass guitar in ZipZop's metal army.

Glad this doesn't have a weird abortion ballad, tbh.

I find it strange that there aren't more ppl who felt like I did that on this album Dave shows us again his talent for bringing the riffs and accentuating the melody in a song no matter how fast or heavy the music gets. Which to me is what made those classic albums like "Peace Sells," and "Rust In Peace," so damn good. I was instantly brought back to flashes of the good old MegaDave once I hit the play button. It reminded me of when I first heard the "Rust In Peace" album. I'd be damn proud to have come up with those riffs! Especially intro of "The Threat Is Real." So badass.

I'm with you Samano, this sounds like a fresh, modernized version of old-school Megadeth. I wouldn’t compare it to the classics as it lacks the innovativeness that made them classics in the first place but this is how 'Deth is supposed to sound nowadays imo. Enjoyable as fck. Pretty stoked on seeing them in June, will be awesome.
