"Lyrically Book Of Regrets fits in nicely with Hand Cannot Erase but maybe it was left off because it was slightly too upbeat."

Reading the booklet that song doesn't come from the Hand Cannot Erase sessions. Btw the packaging is pretty cute and the album length is perfect, looking forward to spinning it.

Oh doesn't it? I read the booklet earlier and I thought it said it did. That album art is damn gorgeous.

Talons, how do you think HCE has resurrected the Deadwing sound?

@Tuna: I assume not because for other tracks it says exactly the sessions of provenience. The ones that were specifically recorded during the HCE sessions are Happines III (written in 2003!) and Sunday Rain Sets In. Personally I'm interested to hear Year of the Plague since it was written and recorded during the Raven sessions.

Yeah I was surprised to lean it was written in 2003 too.

I liked Year Of The Plague, didn't sound too Raven-ish to me though, maybe that's why it was left off.

@Mythodea: The dreamy guitar tones and ambience, moreso than the previous three at least.

I think that GfD and TRTRTS were more jazzy and therefore distant from the PT sound, while Insurgentes was more experimental. From this aspect, HCE is more similar to PT sound, but still, I don't think they're connected that much.

It's an EP to fill the gap between Hand Cannot Erase and the next LP.

I like it, it's easy to digest.

Despite its length it's easily one of his poppiest songs.

4.5 is way too high for this. It's not bad, it's not amazing. Some good songs. 4.5 would almost put it on par with his best work, and no way it's THAT good.
