@banana : "I'll stop expecting anything better than Red Album from this band."
I really feel the same. Have to listen Purple again before rating it but quite disappointing to me too.

Tried again with this, there's simply no way around the production, it sucks. Also music is not even that interesting, Y&G is far better than this and that album is not even that great. This guys contracted a big debt with their fanbase. Biggest disappointment of the year. Bringin down to 1.

This was my first contact with the band and I quite enjoyed it. The production leaves a lot to be desired, although from experience it's not uncommon for albums in the genre to kinda sound like this... 1 is way too harsh.

It's a matter of tastes but you should listen to Red or Blue. You can even listen to the First and Second EPs. This doesn't hold a candle to their past releases, except for Y&G which was quite weak but at least had a couple of great tunes (Cocainium is a top 5 Baroness).
If it wasn't for the production thing it would be between a 2,5 or 3, but all the awful clipping really ruins it further so I think a 1 is well justified.

Well, that's great to hear, as I like the musicianship here for sure. In my case, I won't be that harsh when it comes to production (considering the amount of death metal I listen to, I suppose it's a given haha, although there's another issue lying here compared to stuff from that genre) and the album is certainly better than all of my low ratings.

Yeah it's definitely solid! Much better than Yellow/Green for me.

Great, Baizley vocals have improved. Great, the songwriting is fairly solid and incorporates a bit of heaviness.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I got into Baroness because of the awesome twin guitar leads and solos. There isn't even close to enough of them here. This is a step up from Yellow/Green but not really close to what I want from this band.

Isaak is the best thing they have ever done or will do. I hate it when bands start out awesome and steady decline over the length of their careers.

yeah this is kinda hard to listen to and Im usually not a snob about production

This is SO much better than I expected. Anyone else hear Thrice in a couple of these songs?

There's plenty of awesome leads and solos. They just also use a more straight-forward song structure with catchy choruses but it works imo.

lmao come on lloyd thats not true

the knife started off good and progressively got greater until they ended on the highlight of their career for instance
i feel like metal bands have a tendency to do that a lot more tho actually, maybe something about getting older and getting softer

TERRIBLE GENRE AGREED

Production on this is abhorrent. Such a damn shame, because this is easily the best album they've made since Blue. The guitars clip all over the place, and the drums are compressed beyond repair.
They honestly haven't had an album with 'good' production since Red Album and I really don't understand it, they're such a talented band but they continually let their music get shat on by masters like this.
