only thing that bothers me is that the transitions between radio rock choruses and heavier parts aren't really that fluid and come off as forced

I do think this works better than on previous efforts - I was always about disappointed with their totally commercial records ('Mercury Summer' being a particular disappointment) but I think this flows brilliantly...

'I don't get how this sounds like Deftones. Just because they alternate between heavy and softer moments? The guitar tone is completely different, the singer isnt even remotely similar to Chino and the compositions are not similar either. Still a very cool album, tho.'

The synths in the background and some of the vocal melodies definitely sound Chino inspired. It's not the fact that it sounds like a ripoff, far from it, but you can hear the influence for sure. The verses in the title track sound like something straight off Diamond Eyes.

Loving the melodies and yes, some grooves are very Deftones-esque with those Chino like croons from Charlie.

T/t is the best example of that and probably my favourite track here.

Real good record.

Never knew Fightstar had this much balls tbh, first time checking them and is this their heaviest offering?

Hell yes drummer dude, they are in my city next week so might have to try and get it off work.

As a whole album I'd say so, but check out 'Damocles', 'Deathcar', 'Tannhauser Gate' and 'Nerv/Seele' from other records...

'More Human Than Human' is really the only track on here I'm not a fan of. It was pretty much one of those "in one here out the other" songs for me.

I really like it, it reminds me of Prince slightly haha. Has a really 80s feel in the verses

For those looking to categorise Fightstar, their first albums were pretty much post-hardcore with flashes of plain rock, alluding to Charlie's pop past and ability to write hooks. Be Human dabbled more with metalcore and symphonic metal and this album has made the metalcore/post hardcore elements take more of a backseat to the alt metal and progressive metal elements.

Went into this never listening to this band prior. So glad I checked this, fantastic album upon first listen. "The Blackest of Birds" and "Dive" are incredible.

I absolutely loved Grand Unification but this is definitely their best work since, perhaps even surpassing that.

This album is phenomenal. My only gripe is that I wish the outro to "Titan" was longer and I wish that "Dive" spun around into one last chorus. Oh, and the whole thing is too damn short. But hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Honestly I"m just glad we got a new Fightstar album. I was almost certain they were gonna break up at one point.

Album is definitely too short. And like everyone else I wanted at least one more chorus from Dive. I hope they stick together for awhile now and don't wait another 5 years to put out a new album.
