Fantastic vocals, Strid is up there with Garm, the title track slays, the rest of the album is tight as well.

I think the album is pretty solid. not much to criticize here. still i think the average ratings this band gets are too high. this is music thats been around for almost 20 years now and hasnt changed in 15 after all. and soilwork arent adding anything new to the sound either. Maybe I missed something but are the albums of this band special in any way? to me they sound just like the usual run to the mill metalcore/melodeath albums done well, which does justify a 3.5 or maybe even 4 rating, but the current hype is kind of too much imo.

i don't know of another band that made a career of being mostly generic and then suddenly figured it out so late in their careers

well what would you rather listen to? This or BFMV?

Dillinger - the thing is the songs are just that good. You don't need anything more.
Also, the word "generic" is being thrown around way too much. The songwriting on this is probably Soilwork's best thus far. There being "nothing new" is inconsequential.
Seriously, those kinds of complaints belong on Figure Number Five or STAGD.

it's verse chorus verse chorus with generic melodic dm/metalcore riffs and clean choruses bloody genius I tell ya. seriously, it's not even bad, it's just boring and soulless as fuck

"practically every single genre does that tbh, so I don't know how that's a serious problem"
I think the basest knowledge of music should let you know that that's not true. Come on, dude.

skimmed through the comments here. Jac is one of my top 5 metal resources on this site and his disdain for this concerns me. i really liked TLI and the EP follow up (context being that Soilwork was one of my "gateway" metal bands back in the early 2000s i.e. their first 4 albums).
i've heard nothing off this but my excitement has dwindled significantly

I think it's worth noting that every song here is great but the album as a whole isn't as fun a listen since it lacks the variety or TLI and usually sticks at pretty consistent tempos.

If it wasn't full, I'd put this on my quote list. Jesus christ.
