The best parts of this album are when Myrkur sings and those classical/orchestral sounds like in "Byssan Lul"-and that's just above average material really. The rest of the album doesn't seem to go anywhere though-it's like she has a lot of ideas, but they seem more scattered than they are concise. Whatever, I'm sure I'm going to be getting a lot of hate comments from people who think they live and die by the proverbial black metal comments, so my opinion doesn't really matter in that case.

there are only like three people in the thread defending the album at all, and they're not even defending it so much as just saying they like it and leaving it at that. You're pretty well on the elitists' good side.

Zaruyache and OvDeath: I wasn't really referring to Sputnik in particular. Myrkur's FB is full of people who comment on every one of her statuses pledging allegiance to true black metal and feeling the need to state how young they were when they listened to the first Burzum album. I get the feeling most of them are saying it to impress the chick more than the fact that they actually like the sub-genre. And over on Metal Storm (I put a similar comment there, which is what my comment here mostly applies to), people are getting literal hard-ons over M's ambient/orchestral tracks.
tl;dr version: I guess I forgot how nonchalant people on here are to the Myrkur hype.

I remember looking at the comments on one of her facebook posts and just being sad.

A lot of comments about this album are variations of 'listen to how bad this is'.
I don't understand that rationale.

o wait " 'listen to how bad this is'."
well it's like, hey I think this is bad, how about you? The idea is to encourage a dialogue and you can't encourage others to do that if they haven't listened to the music, even if you already think it's bad and you'd be encouraging people to listen to bad music.
For science!

FOR SCIENCE!
I have only listened to half of this and I already thought it was bad.
|
| |
"it's bad i mean what's to not understand"
Why would you make people listen to bad music? The only reason seems to be to gather a lynch mob.
|
| |
Who is making anybody listen to anything?

FOAR SCIENCE! Also because objectivity. I mean I only gave it a 2.5 so maybe someone else might like it more. Or like maybe someone might wanna listen to it for the same reason why I like watching awful movies--for teh lulz (more or less).
