Review does have a bit too much history. And when it talks about the album it feels stilted. Normally Lambda's reviews are concise. I have to agree that this one isn't too great.

Most great records aren't amazing upon the first 2-3 listens, but the more time you give them the more they sink in. I mean, isn't that common knowledge? I definitely felt underwhelmed with Sol at first, but certainly not disappointed. Now, I think its pretty damn great considering the lack of overall quality today's music lacks (75% of the time), and the fact they released such a challenging album like this 18 years after AOTY. Even if you still don't like it after numerous listens, you gotta tip your hat to them for making an album that's apparently frustrating a lot of listeners, and making them think about it a lot. They could of released of an indifferent, resting-upon-their-laurels type of record like Soundgarden did with "King Animal". I was so excited to hear that record, and I walked away from it shrugging my shoulders. Not bad, but not great. At least FNM pushed the envelope. I'm refraining from giving Sol a rating for now, but its in the ballpark of 3.5-4.5 for sure.

It's kinda ridiculous how hard 'Motherfucker' has grown on me, awesome song.

Can't wait to jam this in full.

Sorry but I agree with Arcade on this one. To me, Superhero is actually the best track here, period.

probably my fault for listening to mr. bungle before FNM, but everything i've heard from FNM just seems so much more dull and bland in comparison
