Good to hear Freak. It might even be best to work backwards through this band's discography.

Also, to people talking about the best tracks: "Taste" is a SOTY candidate, and "Bunny Rose" is top-tier as well.

I'm actually really surprised that 'Taste' is getting such a positive reaction. Not because it's not excellent, which it is. But because that's probably the most accessible track here, which I thought was the major problem that the naysayers had with the LP.

I really like the use of percussion throughout this album. Very diverse; keeps a really nice beat going for each song.
I know i've already touched on this but I wanted to reiterate in case anyone didn't understand how I truly felt.... lol

And I'll reiterate that watching some of their live stuff on YouTube is quite fascinating from a percussion perspective.

I really didn't expect that Irving.
Neither did I Davey hahahaha. Maybe I was a bit too quick to dismiss it at first. I'm not sure if this will make my top 25 list at the end of the year, but it's definitely worth a few jams. I still can't get over "Taste" - Standell-Preston hits a few notes in there that just hang for days. Ugh, good stuff.

3.8 is usually around about my cut-off for the top 25 albums of the year, so I guess it will come down to how many LPs I listen to and how good they are. I think I've heard about 10 so far. D'oh.

You know what's the worst? When a band you listen to a new album by a band you previously loved and realize, "I hate this woman's voice." Like, no joke, I can't stand Raphaelle's voice on this record, with "Miniskirt." In this way, the record feels like Shaking the Habitual .7 to me. Same grating mouth noise and invasive politics (and I agree with her politics!). The instrumentation is decent, so there is that, though, I guess.

finally got around to this. a little inconsistent but i like the direction they took and Raphaelle sounds as good as ever. great transition from Flourish/Perish which, except for In Kind, was pretty meh.

this has grown hard. and is so underrated around here.
there's really not a bad song on this. Happy When and Sore Eyes have especially grown on me.
