yeah they were definitely never "shoegaze" before this album. they were pop punk as hell until magnolia, which is still kinda pop punk but not the kind you'd think

this isn't even shoegaze though lmao

only on the third song but this rules so far. The vocal melodies + all that soft dreamy atmosphere together work so well.

This will probably be my favorite non-hip hop album of the year.

So it turns out that the version of Dizzy on the Comedown I have is slowed down, but I actually prefer it slower now because I've heard it too many times.

The struggle is real.

Yeah, the opener was the first song I heard off this and is probably still my favourite.

Spot on review. This was the first time I listened to Turnover since the pop punk EP, and I was expecting pop punk, so I was pretty confused when I put this on. After several listens though it really grows on you, even if the whole album just kinda blends together. I think it's the overabundant reverb/delay on every instrument, same tempos, similar song structures, reused vocal melodies, etc. but it's still very solid. This is somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for me, but I bumped it up to 4 for good measure.

I think what I like about this is that it mixes predictable pop-punk songwriting with uncharacteristically relaxed and steady instrumentation which makes it a really easy and pleasant listen. Pop-punk is usually pretty exhausting to listen to, either from trying to be loud and anthemic all the time (Dangerous Summer) or having vocalists who really stand out, but this doesn't have either for the better.
