Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis (& her Diamonds) eschew the multiple producers & outlandish concept of 'Electra Heart', for something a little less immediate on 3rd LP 'Froot'. Co-produced with David Kosten, the over-enunciating eccentricities & witty lyrics pleasingly remain, as do some of the quirky pop hooks. Lyrically, it's a rather personal album, while it sonically falls in-between the sound of her previous 2 records. On paper, this was exactly the album Marina had to make, but in reality this overlong 53 minute release only hints at what this talented performer is capable of. Recommended Tracks: Froot, Blue, Better Than That & Forget.
