OMG, who the fuck can say that Shannon Larkin is less talented, there is no doubt Mudvaynes drummer is amazing but Shannon carries Godsmack. Mudvayne are much MUCH more impressive technically and the screamer is probably my favorite at what he does, but you cant really compare these two bands, they have way different styles. All i can say is that they are both kick ass bands.

My favorite Godsmack by far.

I'm kind of tired of people saying "you can't compare these two bands". You can compare any band with any other band unless one happens to be bluegrass and the other is death metal. And even then, you can compare talent. One group is obviously going to be better at what they do than another.

I agree wholeheartedly with Bron-Yr-Aur. It might be hard to compare, say, Eminem and Green Day, but here you have two hard rock/metal bands. Easy to compare. Mudvayne's lead singer is better, bassist is a thousand times better, drummer is a bit better, and guitarist is worse. Plus, there is L.D. 50. What argument could you possibly have for Godsmack?

I love mudvayne but i'm not talking about L.D.50. that cd was bad ass. Mudvayne did'nt do anything new for their band with there newest cd. Godsmack just blew the doors wide open for new fans new music and who knows what else. Even if i was a bluegrass folky polky listener, i'd be much more anticipating what the smack will do next rather than listen to happy every 10 mins. on the radio.

So Godsmack blew the doors wide for new fans by basically doing almost exactly what they've always been doing? And are you saying that you didn't like LD50, or that it was badass? And Mudvayne didn't do anything new on their latest album, like become more melodic or refine their songwriting skills?
...
Hi, welcome to Planet Earth, my name's Jon, I hope you enjoy your stay before returning to wahtever strange dimension you came from.

It's the story of their career: not bad, but could've done better. There's a point beyond which we have to realise that mediocrity should not be applauded, and we should expect more from bands and artists. If this was their first album, it would be pretty sweet, but think of how many bands have evolved and grown so much more than these guys by their fourth album...

When I started reading this page I thought this was a Mudvayne review, then I found out it was Godsmack.

no faceless had less solos than the awake album. only a little more than half or the faceless album had solos. and in this IV album, some songs had multiple solos.

Ah, no, I'm with you now. Enfilade rocks. Maybe we should discuss how great and innovative Godsmack are, and how much we love them?
Or, er, not.
*shudder*
