I purchased this on my 13th birthday along with clayman and hatecrew deathroll at f.y.e. It was one of my first real metal albums, before this my favorite bands were Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down, and dragonforce. (i had just gotten into CoB at the time) Thse bands are all metal basically, but not really like what ive gotten into since then. I consider my first metal album with harsh vocals Wintersun's self titled album (which i got last august, so before this album) and i loved that, but still took time to grow on me.

So basically my musical taste has changed since my 13th birthday, though not much really, i got into Scandinavian metal though.

This album is good, but not a 5 in my book. After many repeated listens this gets old fast. I bought this in 1996 when I first began to really get into death metal and all that. I used to love this album, but I've since discovered better material.

It's still really good, but many of the songs drag on.... and on.... and on.... not much deviance from track to track.

This is a beautiful album. I was so pleased with it the first time I gave it a listen. Id have given it a five if it werent for the gay "only 10% of your votes can be a 5" rule. Whats with that anyway? They dont want people to rate all of their favorites? Most people have a lot of albums they consider to be classic.

It just says that, you can still rate it a 5 if you want to.

That makes sense. 4.5 is the rating right before 5. It gets a 5 now. I feel better.

I just despise the vocals on this though.

Yay for listening! I believe Whoracle to be better than this. And I can't stand Anders Friden, he's one of the worst harsh vocalists I've ever listened to.

Maybe a slight exaggeration, but I still don't like him.

While I totally disagree about Whoracle being better then this, I do agree that Anders is one of the worst vocalists I've ever heard... and they've become increasingly bad on every album...

I guess we're all divided between this, Whoracle and Lunar Strain. I like Lunar Strain the best, mostly because it isn't infected with Anders.
