It was easy to tolerate the songs which came to fruition pre-hiatus IMO. Looking back, the likes of Dance, Dance and Grand Theft Autumn were clearly nothing special, but they're fine enough tunes to revisit every now and then. I can't say the same for any track off Save Rock & Roll or this one, though...

once i heard Dead on Arrivial, that's when they started to grow on me. i was still in denial at the the time that i could ever like them. now i love their work before their reunion.

I still don't understand why people don't like them. And I'm asking for the third time now.

Also, I liked SR&R a lot, it wasn't the comeback I wanted, but I surely didn't dislike it.

SR&R wasn't terrible, it was just average overall imo. did like a few of the songs though. seeing them

play most of that stuff live was a let down.

The drummer is cool, but the drums here...aren't.

"I never understood why people hate FOB with such a passion. I myself never found anything big to criticize with basically any of their albums. (except maybe SR&R)"

Yeah I mean I'll be the first to admit they're not some groundbreaking act, but I like almost everything they've done... I can understand not liking their new stuff but if you enjoy pop punk idk what's not to like about their work pre-hiatus.

the sound enters their ears, and they don't like it. it doesn't have to be justified

@Johnny: I'm well aware. The problem is, I want a justification why most detractors of FOB to act like these complete elitist dipshits. This is what gets on my nerves.

it's that way for a lot of the detractors of bands like FOB

yeah, asking for reasons why people act like 'elitist dipshits' towards certain bands serves no more purpose in 2015 than it did in 2014, 2013, 2012, etc

I liked old FOB, but this and SR&R are just both really not great to listen to. To me, their previous stuff was well done pop-punk with good vocals, neat drumming and an appreciation of how to write a good riff. It just strikes me that on their past two releases, Stump has come back from his electronic excursion and started to push that into the music, which of course means that most of the previous things that were good about FOB have been detracted from. On top of that, it just seems like they've tried to mature a bit too hard - as their later music before the hiatus showed some progression without losing emotion (What A Catch is easily one of their best), everything post-hiatus just sounds cold and lifeless.

That's just my two pennies anyway, you're of course entitled to your own opinion

so not liking something makes one an elitist? if anything, not liking fob is standard protocol - anything but elite - for good reason, however.

i mean i shouldn't be worried to express my honest (and negative) opinion of this album for fear of being called an 'elitist' ;;;;[[[[[[[ even if i just genuinely dislike it, na mean

That wasn't even really what I meant by that, but okay. Don't like this album all you want, I don't care. But when you tell me I'm stupid for liking this, then I got a problem with you. And that's what I meant by elitist. Man, can't really use that word in any context anymore.

I think I kinda do, but it's not really centered on Sput. Almost everywhere I go on the internet people mock me for liking them, even people I know irl do that.
