Unfortunately, this review fails to make a compelling case for Lateralus to be given a 1.5. Your reasoning is frequently backwards, and saying that "there is little to be remembered" after noting that "The entire album is admirable in its effort to balance itself out giving a nice distribution of heaviness and softness" reduces your credibility as a journalist. Revise this and really consider your evidence -- there might be a case for this, but at this point, I cannot consider your arguments as I listen to this.

some of your criticisms seem kinda weak. i mean, saying the guitar bass and drum tones "offer little variety" like yea thats how it is for idk like every album that has ever been released.
and i don't agree with calling this unmemorable. i think theres a lot of really catchy melodies and riffs and drum patterns and things. it may be unmemorable if you've heard it like, twice, but after listening to it a couple of times I definitely think it would get stuck in your head. im sure you could recall the schism riff right now actually.
the review doesn't seem to justify the 1.5 rating.

I tend to agree with unmemorable, but not necessarily in a bad way. I mean, it's kind of difficult to REALLY remember some 8 min song with like 5 different time signatures, unusually thrown in vocals and so on. Doesn't mean they aren't great.

That's a really condescending way to put it. The fact is in music, there isn't anything to "get". Some people feel drawn to certain music, others aren't, and if they aren't it doesn't mean they "don't get it".

It's true though. Sometimes music just doesn't really do it for you and you can't explain figure out why. It's fine to say you don't get it in conversation. However, in review form, I don't get it simply won't cut it.
