alright, thanks for sharing that mang. i was a bit confused seeing how on the basic channel site it's listed in the basic channel section, but if it's already in the database i'd rather not get into a whole debate on where it should be added and stuff

In hindsight maybe I should have added it under Basic Channel's main page. But then again, I want to help build an accurate database. I can put their aliases into their main band page

^What that scarfie above me just said

Always go with the name the artist uses on the release. That's why we have Aphex Twin and AFX pages etc

Isn't this dub techno? I generally have mixed feelings with dub techno but industrial techno is bae

This isn't minimal in the slightest. It's far too dense to even be thought of in that way

i mean there's no debate to be had over whether it's fair to call this minimal techno since all dub techno is "minimal" techno and the term is very commonly used for dub techno and all the music obviously influenced by this but it still irks me
in germany stuff like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPhsUALgYhQ has been called minimal techno for a while and that's how i originally came to liking electronic music so it's a rather nondescript term to me

i guess i can agree with dev when it comes to quadrant dub specifically, i was more referring to basic channel as a whole

The aesthetics of both dub and minimalism in music are almost at completely different ends of the spectrum. You've got minimalism that relies on a stripped-down approach full of repeating patterns; and then there's dub, that relies on heavy manipulation of sound and dense reverb.

Not wanting to hash out a huge genre debate here, but the two concepts aren't exactly overly similar

this is a good example to show why i don't like the term minimal as part of a genre term. you can employ a minimalistic approach on many different levels of the composition that lead to very differing results in the grand scheme that is the composition as a whole.

for an analogy in classical music i'd suggest the difference between the minimalism of part/gorecki and the one of reich/glass. the former employ minimalism in their approach to tonality and presenting their music very clearly by playing it slow and with very little contrasting elements while the latter two are known for having multiple voices play similar themes and manipulating every single parameter imaginable over the course of the composition to create a dense and complex sound at a micro level but a composition that moves extremely slowly or maybe even not at all as a whole.
both are minimalist approaches that lead to very different results.
