With artists like Lord Mantis and Darkspace releasing impressive albums
Lord Mantis is more sludge with bm elements.
But whatever, you're proving to be pretty solid writer and overhyper ; ).

That's true, I thought Cormorant was pushing it too but they served the purpose of that paragraph so I left it
What can I say? I'm pretty liberal with my 4.5s, but this is the highest 4.5 of the year for me. Can't go amiss checking it out (;

This is pretty damn good so far and I'm only half way through the album. Will probably click hard in the next week or so.
Also, this is the best year for bm since I can ever remember getting into bm.

Big ups Ampho, that's the stuff. Definitely the album most deserving of a 5 from this year, I just find it hard to give a classic rating to something I've only heard for ~3 weeks

I've been listening to it ever since it first came out, but it only fully 100%+ clicked with me recently and I've been listening to it
like nonstop the past couple weeks. Agree with Veldin about Cosmic Significance being my favorite album closer of the year,
that ambient beginning and melodic tremolo riffage is awesome.

Awesome review man, I really enjoy reading your stuff.
I think you got the nail on the head when you talk about the way this tries to do sooooo much and it kinda chockes itself out doing (or nearly does). I see a vast array of concepts here but they don't always mesh/flow together the way they intended. For me at least. Definitely excellent regardless.

I do love the doom and how they work it in, those are my favorite parts of the album.

Thanks Portal, always appreciate
To be honest I thought he made them flow incredibly well together, he just fleshes some out too little, which is only noticeable because of how brilliantly he expands on some of his other ideas. It's such a minor niggle for me, but I'm glad you enjoyed it despite that (:

It's like you say, too many ideas too compressed. For some reason I kept thinking about Gris's album from last year when listening to this. They're really not similar but it made me think of it nonetheless. I went back and listened and realized why. That album is an example of one with a broad soundscape and a pretty wide range of influences, but still manages to stay grounded in/to one particular mood and concept.
Really though I hate to say it but I just get no feels from this at all. It's SOOOOOO well executed but other than having immense respect for the artistry present here, it really doesn't do much for me emotionally. Portal of I, conversely, also has a ton of ideas and isn't as well constructed as this, but brings me the feels in barge loads, every time.

there's been a lot of great bm this year but i think this somehow blows the rest of it out of the water. Nice to see you guys are all digging this as much as I am m/

Took me ~10 listens before I felt brave enough to start writing a review, there is an incredible amount of content but it just keeps getting better

Not feeling the 4.5 yet but a 3.5 would be appropriate at this point in time.
Feels like a grower.

Yeah for sure. It was a 4 on the first couple of listens for me, just because it was such a demanding listen, but it slowly grew from there

I was the opposite. Was gonna 4.5 this on first listen but after a couple more it wore me down.
