From playing the NPR stream a couple of times, I found this by far the worst in their discography. Still have hope and crossing my fingers that once I get the vinyl it magically starts sounding like it should.

Yeah I mean exactly because I'm seeing such a discrepancy between what I'm hearing and everyone else is I think that there's hope I'll come around to this with a) more listening and b) better quality audio. I mean I can sort of recognize stuff here that "ought" to be good but everything just refuses to click somehow.

well, ought's is very sprawling album that has a lot of different things going on at the same time, so
i wouldn't blame you if it didn't click right away, but it's one of my favorites this year.
