Yeah, sure I can accept that he's gone downhill ever since scenes. Maybe I&W is pushing it

Listen to Labrie on the latest DVD, it's like travelling back in time

Just posted my album ranking. Going to work on my song ranking in the meantime.

LaBrie is 50+ years of age and severely damaged his vocals after the Awake album. Considering this, I think he's doing a pretty damn good job lately.

Have you seen his performances of the Awake material on the latest tour? The one I saw he was almost note-perfect to that material.

Totally agree. Saw them in January, LaBrie was great. As you said, he's not 20 anymore but his performance was pretty solid.

Glad to see I'm not the only LaBrie fan/defender here.

it's not an excuse that he's not young anymore. shitty vocals are shitty

Recordings are still crap though. He might have injured his vocals on Awake, but he was still fine up until 6Deg and showed glimpses on stuff like oct t/t. As Art says, there's no excuse and why compromise?

I enjoy his voice on records quite a lot actually. There was a weak period where he had his problems on live performances but he has recovered imo. I can't understand how someone who likes DT in general doesn't like LaBrie's voice?? It's such a vital component to the sound. No LaBrie, no DT - it's that simple for me.

I agree that LaBrie is quintessential to the DT sound, but doesn't mean i can't dislike his voice at times. Don't get me wrong, it's still decent, but it's just not as good as it was before and actually pretty average or boring in the end

Of course there are also vocal parts I don't like (Prophets of War serves as prime example to that *shuddering*) and his voice isn't as brilliant as it used to be but I really think he regained part of his form somehow. His performance on ADTOE is really good, I was pleasantly surprised.

yeah, I'm with you there. It's appalling on this, however.

I wouldn't go as far as to call it appalling, but yeah, it's definitely MUCH weaker on here.
