The Hunter is honestly one of the catchiest albums I’ve ever heard. The next 2 come off as half assed and boring imo.

I love everything up til the 2 like I said but I go to Remission, Leviathan and The Hunter the most by far. I’m not as high on Crack the Skye as most people but I still dig it hard.

Crack the Skye is ok. I listened to blood mountain a lot when it came out but it grew off me over the years. Mastodon in general grew off me for some reason

I still enjoy Once More 'Round the Sun. Not as much as when it came out though, it's definitely grown off of me. Crack the Skye, Leviathan and Emperor of Sand are still my personal fav Mastodon albums.

I know lots of fans don't like it. But the message of the album really gets to me. (Dealing with Cancer and overcoming obstacles like that). Great tribute album to lost loved ones. Musically though, yeah not as great as their other stuff, but still good.

They've gotten themselves into this weird place where it's like they want radio play but they're not willing to completely sell out either, so the music is just meh as a result.
