No. It's got a melody, it's got a rhythm. It is music. Secondly, the "wall of sound" features some great chord progressions and strong subtle angular melodies that emphasizes the emotion of the song and builds on the contrast between the screamed and sung vocals.
My god, I can scream into a microphone and call myself Alexisonfire too! Looks like anyone can be a rockstar these days....
If you could do that, then you would be rich and famous and not here, bitching on the internet.

1. No, it does actually. Being able to scream on a consistent basis and still maintain a constant pitch and timbre requires a lot of vocal strength (and training, so one doesn't ruin their vocal chords)
2. Since when is talent is the main factor deciding musical credibility? Sure it's important, but music being a method of communication from an individual to a collective, I would argue that the general method of communicating to the audience is more effective, hence why it can be argued that the screaming provides an effective release of tension that correalates to the feelings of the listeners and is a genuinely nice contrast to the spacious crooning by the two guitarists.
Normally I don't usually like such music, but I think Alexisonfire's pop sensiblilties make them a strong and legitimate exception from the "scene"

Finally... he was banned...
He was just mindlessly bashing the band, calling them untalented just because they scream... Completely ignoring the fact that that they have two amazing guitarists (one of whom, because of his side project and song with Neverending White Lights, is now a Canadian household name), one of the coolest bassists ever (keep on dancing, Steele), and a fast and wild drummer (Jesse and Jordan both fit that description).
Damrod, thanks. Hopefully this will teach him a few things about voicing his opinion intelligently.

Just because he went against the current with a horrible argument doesn't mean he should be banned.
Meh. Yes he does.

It was not the fact that he has a contrary opinion but the way he voiced it that got him the ban.

I know. I still don't think he should be banned. It wasn't like he was swearing repeatedly or raising hell. He was just being flat out unreasonable and stupid. Since when is that a crime?
I think the verbal punishment that everyone here laid down was punishment enough anyways.[/Quote]
He's banned, period. I would appreciate if you could just let that topic rest and keep the discussion on what it should be: the music and album the review in question was about.

Fuck that, expressing your opinion shouldn't be a wildcard for stupidity. This place is not a democracy, and idiocy and ignorace should not be tolerated. I put a good amount of effort into my post, and he just blabbed out some half-brained generalization.
Fact is, if you're going to express your opinion, and especially if your claim is a tall order, you should be prepared to defend it, thoughtfully, respectfully and rationally.

I have both of their albums on my Ipod and never listened to them yet and for some reason I decided to listen to "Watch Out!" on my bus ride to school. I can now say i'm a huge fan, their songs are full of energy especially "Accidents". I just want to get up and dance hoping others nearby will join me. About a half hour ago I listend to the self-titled and it's just as good. I hope these guys play near me soon, they seem like they put on a good high energy show. As for the drumming, the stlye seems cool, anyone know where i can get tabs for "Accidents"?This Message Edited On 04.03.06

Good album, not great, but good.

George live during any song is kick ass......Even if he isnt screaming his heart out, he is getting the crowd excited and making them enjoy the concert. As for Watch Out!, it is way better mastered than their self-titled album, and their diversity on this album is much better. The usage of Dallas Green (a very, very underrated talent in the music industry) in this album is amazing, showing that Alexisonfire isnt just another "run of the mill" trendy screamo band that more than a handful of "screamo" bands can be classified as.
