This is certainly the masterpiece of the more "straight forward" types of post rock, it's amazing.

Hadn't spun this one in a while and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it still holds up for me...

Yeah, the debut is cool and this one is full of manly vibes (well at least for post-rock...) but goddamn it gets ugly after this one imo.

Umm whatever manly vibes means, but yea it's masterful.

Haha, I just meant that it is a bit more muscular than most other post-rock with the harder grooves and the faster pace.

Oh gotcha. Yea it's faster paced and definitely the masterpiece of the "simpler" style of post rock. It still blows my mind about how much is accomplished in Suicide By Star in under four minutes. What a fucking song.

Yeah that's the main advantage this album has over other post-rock records. These tracks pack so much stuff and keep the clock at a reasonable length so you get your atmosphere and your climax without the excessive drag known in post-rock.

It's not my fav, but damn for what it is, it's pretty hard to top.

I love the more complex stuff like GY!BE and SR even more, but every song on here has something special and enjoyable to offer honestly.

Haven't listened to Godspeed in ages, they grew off me a lot in my past listens so I'm kinda scared to listen to them now...

As for Sigur Ros, they never really were my cup of tea. I never dug all the pretty stuff going on and the angelic vocals. But with that being said I freaking loved Brennisteinn from their last record.

I think that song blew any SR fans mind as soon as they heard it
