That is indeed the case. My guess is they were pushed by something to be more accessible to the crowd most likely to buy into them.

I’m curious to see where this band goes with a new drummer and bassist. I hated the drums on PFW, so I’m not losing sleep over two expendable members parting ways.

GC goes as Josh Travis goes. He’s the backbone of the band. The only reason anyone listens to them is to hear his guitar work--which unfortunately leaves something to be desired on this EP. It’s not bad by any means, and I even commend him for giving the 9-string a shot, but I feel he wasted the potential of it by relying on a bunch of djent chugs throughout the album.

The last track is killer though.

Also would like to see Jerry Rousch step it up a bit. He sounded too monotone on this. Lyrics could be much better too.

they emphasize in interviews that this album was made because they wanted to have something purely heavy under their belt

This EP is pure destruction. It's heavy like minds, cutting like knives, pulling all sides.

You know, I didn't like this originally, but coming back to it, it slaps. It's basically JT doing his thing with Jerry going ape on top of it. Soul is Dead and Lilac are standout.

BTW side note but JT has a twitch where he jams on top of all his material and its high quality. Recommend checking it if you're fanging for more Danza or Glass Cloud.
