"THEY MUST NOT LIKE THIS ARCADE FIRE ALBUM BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T READ AS MANY BOOKS AS ME"
- walking, talking stereotype that actually exists, apparently

"THEY MUST NOT LIKE THIS ARCADE FIRE ALBUM BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T READ AS MANY BOOKS AS ME" I never thought that, but I do think many people hate this album because Arcade Fire are popular. Human nature being what it is. Unfair critiques. It takes some understanding of past albums to see the progression. If you never liked the band, why comment on how much of a counter culture rebel you are?

Tbh not matter how many people deny it, hype does influence opinion as does the dreaded tag of indie rock/post-punk. It just conjures up images of a bunch of posh English kids wearing tweed waistcoats and skinny trousers and playing only cheap instruments just so they can boast, 'We're sooooo hardcore.'

This album is not even that esoteric in it's meaning. It portrays people in different times and situations with "Man In The Mirror"{Reflektor} self-conversations and musings.

it was obvious exaggeration, but you did think
Sputnik blowhards are not that literate. The biblical, historical, and escatological references found in the Arcade Fire discography are over the heads of most I guess. I now see why people are bored. I suppose the higher your knowledge base is the more you might enjoy this. If you do not have a lot of "book learning" this band, and record are probably not for you.
so correct me as to why my characterization is wrong?
how do you figure I never liked the band?
why would that make it wrong to comment, especially seeing as I was commenting on your shitty criticism as opposed to the music, here?
|
| |
acting like people dislike this band because they're popular and saying that people don't like it because they're not as literate as you are totally different points, as well; and you did try to make the latter, originally, and that's what I'm shitting on, now

I was speaking about the "blowhard" critic who never wanted to like this. Their points are baseless and their hatred is ill-informed.
|
| |
oh, so that's not "most" like you said?
and the amount you enjoy this isn't proportional to your "knowledge base" or whether you use words like escatalogical or esoteric?
and so you think people's not liking this could be due to something other than the lack of their "book learning"?
huh...

So you are intimating someone that speaks French will have no deeper understanding of the Sed Non
Satiata album "Mappo", than one who could not understand French. Mon Dieu.
