They reminded me off anderson as well KILL. It struck me as a combo of old prog and new prog. Definitely the best album I've heard releases this year.

"...b-but you just named the song that emulates GG the most as the best song on the album? eh?"
Yes, but I didn't say that emulating Gentle Giant is a bad thing. I just pointed out the fact that they're heavily influenced by Gentle Giant on this LP.

It is a song that should have been on Karnivool's newest album, at least its opening few minutes

I think Atlas Stone is my fave here. The second half of the album grows a bit tiresome for me, but the first cuts are great.

Alright, Adam. I'm sorry I didn't get to looking through this review earlier, but things have kept me busy.
First off, good job on this for being your first review. It's evident you have a firm grasp on the English language (which sounds like it would be a given, but some of the first reviews around these parts are just.. something else.) And you're a straight-forward writer, which I like.
I will say that you could do without that first paragraph. The idea is cliched before you even begin it, especially considering the only other review of this record approaches it in incredibly similar fashion. Lines like "humanity is in constant turmoil trying to scale the hardship-laden trek known as life" feel very forced-- I much prefer the way you write once you get past this point in your review.
The second paragraph is good, but the third one is better-- because it feels more natural. I will say that here, you use a lot of descriptive writing, and it feels fairly dry to me. When I'm able to listen to this album myself, and find out if there are vocals on each song, I'd prefer to not read about it too-- one thing you can think about in the future is digging a bit deeper. The vocals utilized in these songs, what do they display about Haken? What do they make you think of, and why is that the case?
"'Falling Back to Earth' continues this theme of attempting to climb the metaphorical mountain, although in a more negative way."
I can't help but think this would make for a good analysis of that track's title, considering it goes directly against what this sentence is saying. Do you mean the song achieves this musically? If so, a clarification would help.
Your analysis of "Cockroach King" is spot-on, especially that last sentence. Take what made you write that, and see if you can harness it a bit into more of your work.
The fifth paragraph lacks structure-- it's essentially pointing out different qualities of each song. Again, I'd like to see you elaborate here, maybe to tell me why this sense of variety is so impressive.
I wanted to tell these things to you because I see a lot of promise here. Nice work, and I'd love to see contributing more around these parts. Feel free to shoutbox me if you ever have any questions.
