Tonight's Decision through Viva Emptiness is weak. Great Cold Distance had its moments and the last two have some standout tracks.
Brave Murder Day and Sounds of Decay have a special place in my heart.

I like LFDGD but I still feel like they were still refining the sound that they nailed on Viva.

I agree with you on Dead End Kings being their masterpiece. NiTND suffered from an odd track order. Great review I will check this.

I agree with the sound off that says this musical direction reveals that a few of these tracks are boring without heavy instrumentation.

Well they were written to feature heavy instruments so a lot of parts feel weak without.
Maybe it's worse because I know the original songs so well and can hear the climactic heavy part coming and then when it doesn't happen it just feels a little dull.

gotta disagree with that. night is the new day has some tracks that are really really good, but it has too many weak tracks and its flow is awful.
