I feel like I have seen offshoots of that first sentence a dozen times on this site (probably from me as well)
|
| |
in what way? lessons learned from the previous record?
i was basically trying to recap in the most concise way possible and that's the best thing that came to me after a bottle of wine
i'm open to suggestions though man

I was actually pointing out that particular sentence's structure. "If (artist)'s (previous record) taught us anything, it was that (artist) ___."
Just funny, because I am pretty sure I have used those exact words in some review as well. It's a good format, and a good way to interpret an artist's music-- I guess it just becomes problematic when I notice it more and more.

yeah fair call, i feel it's warranted in this particular case as the last record was something of a radical departure from everything that came before it, therefore it's quite relevant to that whole opening paragraph
i don't think i've seen it that often elsewhere but then again i don't read that many reviews...
i'll have a think about different ways to word it though, thanks for the input mate, much appreciated

It isn't a big deal, don't get me wrong. It's just interesting that it's stood out to me so many times around these parts.
|
| |
yeah man no doubt there are definitely certain patterns you see repeated in a lot of writing here
i dunno how you keep pumpin out reviews so regularly dude, mad respect
