Im not sure writing a story around someone else's story is such a great move, but the practice would do you good so do it man.
The eye lasers line I like, there's nothing wrong with a bit of humour. I don't get the hate for any of Invented, I was pretty surprised when I checked it's rating on this site. I had memories of people liking it.

Yeah I remember some people on here saying it was one of their favourite albums of the year but now everyone just seems to instinctively dislike it, which makes me sad. Such a fucking amazing record, start to finish.

Also minty, yeah I don't know what the rest of your music taste is like so those recs I gave might be worthless. But if you like JEW you should like The Butterfly Effect, check out their album Imago. It tells a story too, about losing a loved one to cancer.

book of love might be my favourite lyrics. mainly for "ill pick you up on a wednesday night and go off for a secret ride like we were kids". such nostalgia for having just past your test, being young and free and going out for drives with girls cause your parents are home and you cant bring them back.

my interpretation of the lyrics, if anyone is interested. i havent studied them though this is just what ive absorbed through listening so maybe im wrong about some details...
the gradual demise of a relationship. appreciation = this is hard but its worth fighting for. damage = maybe theres nothing we can do to make better what seems to just be getting worse. lean = i know we arent right for each other but i still dont think i can live without you. book of love = ok fine we have lost our way and we need to end it but dont know how or when. steal you back = maybe i made the wrong decision in choosing to end things. please say no = this is too difficult, dont tempt me back because i will come back and it will be a mistake. howd you have me = you know what i dont need you anyway (denial, trying to rationalise). no, never = it was never even perfect anyway cause we both didnt care for each other enough. byebyelove = theres no coming back from this, its over for the last time. you were good = looking back on it we had good times but in the end we made the right decision to move on.

obviously ive oversimplified and have taken the poetry out of it but thats the jist, at least how i interpret it. so much meaning to those lyrics i feel.

damn dude haha. that's a pretty cool interptetation. the meaning of the closing track (at least for me) is about how short life is and to just appreciate the good times when you have them. one moment you have something and then it's gone.
