I get the point, but i must diagree with modern music being better, but even that is a matter of tastes.

the best modern stuff has more musical value than the best classics; production and technology has advanced so that more things are possible. obvious there are shit artists everywhere, but that's only because of the massive diffusion of music and how readily accessible it is.

Production can be better, yeah, but the essence of the music is not the production or the effects.

The essense of music has changed and expanded, for, I would argue, the better. Disregarding mainstream material, great music nowadays are incredible engineering feats.

There are of course people who will say "fuck you, AC/DC is awesome, they're classic rock". It's that very notion that I'm attacking. Metallica follows along the same vein.

Production can be better, yeah, but the essence of the music is not the production or the effects. [2]

Besides better technology doesn't mean better music. Many bands have done intense songs with prolific songwritting, good lyrics, great dynamics and with a remarkable instrumental work without the excessive amount of technology. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of modern stuff in a lot of musical genres and production is important but is not everything

i dont agree with that actually, in my eyes producing and mixing is also a from of art. its like another instrument

Also I'm not a fan of AC/DC, they are one of my least favorite classic rock acts and they have little variation. But they are good making catchy and fun hard rock songs, and their vocal and instrumental without being the best is enjoyable, that's the purpouse of the band.

Production is important, but the music itself is more important.

I prefer to listen a great album with average production than an average album with great production
