Even if we don't "understand", at least don't neg the reviewer because his opinion differs from yours. The writing is solid.

Bypass the race, conquistador, and up in the air...and this album is actually brilliant. City of Angels is one of my favorite songs by them to date. I thought end of all days was incredible too. I have been listening to these guys since their first...and honestly the band couldn't have held onto the space rock genre forever. People would lose interest...as I did when I got to the second half on the debut. This however...kept me entertained almost all the way through. (Despite the singles, thankfully being the worst on the album.)

"honestly the band couldn't have held onto the space rock genre forever. People would lose interest"
I understand that and I'm all for a band changing it's style because they would get boring. I love 30stm and their self titled remains my all time favorite but this is just the band being full of themselves. That's just what I think. There's no denying that they were awesome at space rock. I wouldn't mind if they decided to do that again.

I was excited to see how they changed their style this time, but it sounds like they kept the same atmosphere as the previous release. I honestly bought that album and gave it 1-2 listens from start to finish. Now I only listen to a few songs off of that album. A couple of songs had promise for their future direction, but mehh.
I still can listen to s/t straight through. I don't listen to ABL that much, although I really liked it at the time.
They still could've mixed their different styles and create something amazing. Something spacey, atmospheric, and melodic. Along with much, much better vocals as he had shown in his first 2 releases. Oh well.

I still hate the album, but I gotta give credit when credit is due. Bright Lights is a lovely pop song. Sure it sounds like a lost
M83 track, but it's fantastic. I think it'll be a huge hit for them if they release it as a single.

Yeah I agree Zackkkk, Bright Lights has been growing on me a fair bit since this came out, I might call it a standout. Johnny, I'd love to hear your opinions man.

they don't really use electronics that well these days, besides Stranger In A Strange Land. that song ripped. at least we still have the S/T and some good songs from the second and third albums

I just saw these guys at the KROQ Weenie Roast and their set was pretty dreadful. The only decent song they played was the kill

Jesus you should have had Leto on your twitter of 30stm on your facebook, they were constantly bigging the fucker up.
|
| |
"Jared Leto tries to be someone else, but nothing seems to change"
hate this summary. you're telling me nothing seems to change... except that the band has been getting worse per release? i'd think deterioration qualifies as (negative) change
stop trying to shoehorn lyrics
