What's wrong with a 3.5? Doesn't that correlate to "great" on the site?

And that's exactly what it is to me! Great, but nothing better than that. Dum Spiro Spero shits all over this imo, but then again they haven't released a true "new" full length since that. I'm just gonna have to wait it out.

Too low.

I wouldn't say this is a classic because it's different takes on old songs, but it's very good

Meh, I'll give it one more listen within the week. Maybe I haven't given it a totally fair shot.

It gets the 5 for me, simply for managing to make old songs sound modern and fresh, dispite the fact they are old songs.

Enjoy, dude. I just pre-ordered the Limited to-order "Sustain the UNtruth" a couple of days ago.
Unbelievable how much money these guys get off me....

Raising this to a 4.5 after seeing them live, where they played a decent amount of these newer ones.
Look at this freakin' awesome setlist, yo: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dir-en-grey/2013/the-theatre-of-living-arts-philadelphia-pa-23c4a077.html

Man, I'm reading through the setlists of other shows they played on this tour, and there are some songs they alternated in and out of the setlists with. If I saw them play Gaika or Bugaboo live, I would've lost my shit. Still a really good setlist though, so I can't complain.

Diabolos has been a super grower on me lately. If they included Gaika, Bugaboo, and that in the setlist omfgggggggg

okay, people are tallking about diabolos, which is a 2nd rate vinushka, MACABRE(2013 ver) people, their 2nd best damn song in their whole disc (Final first)

Damn, I would see a live show just for VINUSHKA, DIABOLOS, and 2013 MACABRE alone.
Just got back from the Chicago show; they basically mixed stuff on this EP (Death Valley, Karasu, and Kasumi, I think) with UROBOROS and a couple songs from withering & DSS. Got to OBSCURE, dead tree, DOZING GREEN, VINUSHKA, DIFFERENT SENSE, RINKAKU, and Gaika though, so I was pretty pleased overall. Encore was Reiketsu, FINAL, and Hageshisa to, in that order, which was a pretty killer closer.

See, no appreciation for Diabolos.
Macabre 2013 is a masterpiece though.

MACABRE 2013 might be my favorite song ever by them. Sprawling and dark and manages to capture most of what makes them so special.
DIABOLOS sort of is a 2nd rate VINUSHKA, but is still a pretty good song in its own right and never gets enough credit, I feel.

Diabolos isn't second rate anything, it stands strong as a highlight on DSS imo.

I agree, but I still think DSS as an entire work is weaker than UROBOROS, and DIABOLOS by extension so (not that DSS was bad; I gave the thing a 5).

Seeing them live would be intense.
