I've heard this is boring.

Lol at people giving this a 4 just cause its TDH.
Wat?
"i think this one is a lot more subtle and requires more attention than the color spectrum did. the
color spectrum was really immediate.""
Errrrm, it wasn't for me. 2 hours of TDH is a bit much to take in compared to this album haha. You
had the songs on the Indigo EP which were really far out as well.
This is much more easier to listen to IMO. Though it has a lot of slow moments that tend to drag on
longer than they should.

People say a lot of music is boring.

You forget The Color Spectrum wasn't really meant to be listened to as a whole

"This is his first non-concept album, right? It's kind of weird to think about these songs as not being connected like pretty much everything else he has done."
You're saying "his," so I'm assuming you're talking about Casey, right? If so, then no. Casey was with Treos prior to TDH and Dear Mr. Leading wasn't a concept album, either. At least not at that point.

Must suck for Nick that TDH is really only recognized as Casey. Nick is a pretty stellar drummer but nobody pays attention to him.

My bad, I meant as The Dear Hunter. I didn't really mean to refer to TDH as just him. I meant from a lyric standpoint. I
am guessing Casey writes all the lryics.
I need to find me Ms Leading. I just have the Acts and the Color Spectrum.

From what I understand, Casey directs everything. He locks himself in a dark room with his piano, designs everything there, and afterwards, expresses how the songs will pan out to the rest of the guys (or whoever is playing with Casey and Nick).

Really digging 'Let Go.' Not just your typical rock song. I really like the direction Casey went with this album. Would not be disappointed if TDH's next album also deviated from the Acts; they've proven themselves to be really awesome in all arenas :]

Girl reminds me of 40's-50's music with the way they handled the female vocals.
Shouting at the Rain makes me want to go to the beach with that chill guitar riff.

I just meant that the songs on tcs were way more enjoyable on first listen, whereas these feel like growers more than anything else. This is as a whole of course, some of the songs on tcs required multiple listens, at least for me (Blue EP specifically required multiple listens to click)

dear ms leading was just demos for the acts. doesnt really count as a "non-concept album"

from what i can gather talking to the band for awhile after their show last month, the songwriting process is definitely more collaborative than people think - though casey is still the predominant force. still trying to get my head around this album.

i really do hate that people think this band is basically just casey though, the rest of the band deserve a lot more credit. really nice guys too

"I think I mostly hear the blend of Blue, Violet, and White from the Color Spectrum, though."
The three best colors! This should be good, then!
