This is what Green Day's last album sounded like in my head when I had read descriptions of it...

We used to play this in sections in my buddy's garage, usually after pizza. This album got a lot of punks to shut the hell up about NOFX losing their touch. It's got tons of variety and its lyrics are tops but there are some parts that just have me sitting around.
|
| |
The parts that people find boring or have them "sitting around" are only boring because they're not "normal" for the average punk song, in my opinion... I think its better because they added more dynamics to the song instead of just using various fast punk speeds, and maybe a slower, Bad Religion-esqe, punk section or two.

| |
I mentioned that the variety was there, so slower parts weren't necessarily boring parts. I actually have no problem going through the entire album but keeping me consistently entertained is a different story. I don't know if the "Jerry" they reference was a significant punk but that section of the song is filler to me for Smelly's doubling-up.

| |
I guess I'm used to a lot of longer songs since I listen to far more Prog-type bands then punk bands... so this song was cool, and it kept me entertained through the whole thing.

I don't really know what makes me find this so incredible. I'm just left speechless every time I finish it.

Yeah this song still owns.
|

yeah this song is gah gah awesome

It's been two years since I posted on this thread this was my favorite song ever. Well, it still is, stronger than ever. The people who say it has boring and uninspired parts either hate punk or don't get anything about what this song is meant to be. Really, I'm sure there's technically better songs out there but I have yet to listen to a song that surpasses this one when it comes to feeling. It never gets old, I swear and I've listened to it literally hundreds of times. This Message Edited On 11.20.07This Message Edited On 11.20.07

Yeah, this is my favorite song ever, bar none.

Okay, this song is alright, not the best song ever, not even remotely close. Music is subjective, I understand that, but if I know that some of my favourite songs aren't the "best songs ever." Some of the best music ever, I don't even like (ie. Wagners the Ring Cycle). Having said that, the horn part in the coda, and some of the bass work is pretty good, otherwise, meh.
Oh, and for god's sake don't mention that "very few" bands have made 18 minute songs. Rush, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Dave Holland, Godspeed You Black Emperor (umm Skinny Fists?), The Decemberists (The Tain EP), Dream Theatre (as much as I dislike them), Shall I continue?

From the Cradle to the Grave is way better than this but hey HEY WHY LISTEN TO ME
|
| |
Indeed! But we have 15 minute minimum standards to consider!

The new Coheed is obv better than this.

If you go to their website (or lame ass wikipedia) they tell of getting the idea from the Subhumans kay I'm done beating a dead horse gonna go give this a proper 6/5 review now.

Awesome song. I think this is the best thing NOFX has done to date, despite it being an EP.
