I'd call it melodic black metal but whatever works I guess
I also have a feeling Crysis will hate this

I want to love this. I really do. But I'm spinning this and all I can think is I wish I was listening to Theogonia instead :/

"One thing that continually impresses me about Rotting Christ’s latter-day albums is how they manage to sound as grandiose and powerful as an orchestra (without actually having one). The band’s sound is large and thick, and when a melodic guitar lead rises amidst the havoc, it sounds like an aural reflection of a tempest looming over a bloody battle."
"Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy’s songs are all of equally excellent quality and function as a stalwart body of work that hits the listener with full force."
Very well said, I couldn't agree more

Once upon a time they were black metal. So they get to call themselves that. It's like growing up 1/16 cherokee

I just generally call them dark metal and am done with it. There are some black metal elements, there are some other elements, and all these elements just make up what is an awesome album. Some people complain about them not being black metal enough and are hating on the folk/gothic sections, but really, I think those are what make RC special. No one really sounds like them and I haven't yet come across another Greek metal band either that has a so distinct "Greek" folk feel to it as Rotting Christ's later day albums have had.

The folk sections are like the best parts. It's a genuinely fun record by a band with the trve name "Rotting Christ." That's pretty awesome.
