Brostepguy what's you're favorite Medi release?

Well I was speaking in general, though Mala in Cuba, Diary of an Afro Warrior and Outside the Box are my favorite releases from those artists and are all post-2008.

I get to see Mala perform Mala In Cuba (live not DJ'd) this summer, can't wait for that going to be surreal. But really Alex, go back over the roots of dubstep, then you can see what it's really supposed to be like

to be fair this is better than a lot of this kind of shit out there, it's got more going on. But the sudden electro spasms are still not welcome

Jash tbh I haven't listened to dubstep nearly long enough to have a favorite. I'm really digging Kahn's (relatively) new single and Tunnidge's new EP, though. Any recs based on that?

Anyways, though, here's some critiques:

(note: most of my critiques will be about your appraisal of Modestep since I tend to disagree with much of what you say)

to offer the American dubstep scene at its peak

Pretty bold statement right off the bat, especially with a group like Modestep. People would argue that Widdler is way way better, and if we're sticking with straight brostep artists I'd say that guys like Terravita and Datsik are better than Modestep.

Modestep’s music benefits greatly from this fact because it doesn’t have to rely on samples for vocals or instruments.

It does, though - like, "Sunlight" is straight Massive compressions and big brostep drums.

making for a natural sound and unique method for the dubstep genre in how it is partially acquired from live recordings rather than just through tracking and layering.

And here's my biggest beef with the review: you seem to equate Modestep's "live" gimmick with freshness without considering the music itself. They're pretty much industry-standard for anyone who's given the whole genre a spin, and guitars/vocals notwithstanding they're quite unoriginal.

“Sunlight”, the latter of which brings to mind the work of David Guetta.

Someone said this before, but a statement like this destroys your credibility. Don't mean to get all Dev-like on you, but at the same time this is blatantly not true.

Now, even with all this talk of different elements, casual fans who just crave the bass and only the bass need not worry

And again here's a fundamental difference between our appraisals of the genre - I call those "different elements" a guitar on top of a straight brostep track. There's nothing "different" about them.

I feel like I'm coming off as kind of an asshole here, and if I do, I don't mean to sound that way. I just think that you'd do well to delve a bit deeper into the genre. Just like Dev helped me a ton with my knowledge, I hope to be able to help you discover more about the wonderful world of dubstep. More later, but for now I gotta go

I assume you're still writing reviews such as this one after listening only once or twice?

I don't see how the amount of times I listened to this has any effect on what I bring up in this review specifically.

So I assume if I like "bro step" like Knife Party I will find this entertaining?
