I hate to say it, but... Fuck it. O.K., I *love* to say it: staff got it wrong on this one. Like, really wrong.
"Straight Out of Hell," despite the pathetically apathetic album title and cover, is readily the best the Pumpkin's done since "The Dark Ride" – and probably since "Keeper Part II", if I'm being honest with myself. (But why do that?) Excluding "Live Now!", which is fairly throw away, the sheer individuality of most tracks lends this record some definite legs. Also, the Hammond version of "Burning Sun" kicks the synth-laden shit out of the album version. Grab those bonus tracks!
I'm no Pumpkin fanboy. But, daaaa-mn. If you can stomach power metal, it really doesn't get much better.
