it's because post-metal is the hotbed of the musical elitists -- it's "thinking man's metal" (turner), so people have to create hierarchies and defend them. yeah, Neurosis came first, but it wasn't until Oceanic and Salvation that the genre really solidified...it's a "distinct lineage" (again, turner), something few other genres have.
