Different people, different opinions.
But I think it's harsh for you to keep saying they suck, when you simply don't like them. Because truth be told, they really don't suck, they have pretty solid talent.

I'm super biased about this because it's Thrice, but after spending a solid two weeks delving into
each song I think it's pretty damn good for their first full length. With some better production,
would of definitely been a four for me. "Ultra Blue" and "In Your Hands" weren't particularly great
but the rest was pretty enjoyable. My album highlight had to be the foreshadowing in "A Torch to End
All Torches" to "Image of the Invisible". It was pretty fun being a newer fan (came on at Beggars) to
see how this album set the groundwork for what was to come. I mean it starts a little slow but the
last four songs on this album feel like the Thrice I know and love

I have no clue why they took Madman off the re-release, it's easily the best track on here.

I find this early thrice to be very teencentric. its immature and sounds like alot of other bands who adopt this style. thankfully they do mature and harden up on later albums.

this isn't horrible, but it's obviously the worst thrice. [123]

I wouldn't say immature; I haven't heard this, but based off Illusion I would say that they had a less refined sound that came across as more passionate as a result; on future releases (about half of Vheissu and then Alchemy onwards) it sounded like they had put far more effort into getting their sound tightened up and although you might call that more mature, I find that it loses some of the intensity of earlier albums. Major/Minor had a great mix of the two imo

It is teencentric and immature, they were around 18 when this was released. That doesn't mean it has to be bad though. The album doesn't sound the way it does because they were lazy, that's just how Thrice was back then. They put as much work in this album as in the later ones, at least that's how it feels.

Yes, it's probably my favorite from the record. You should listen to Madman as well, they removed it from the re-release for whatever reason.
