Well I guess nowadays that shits kinda dead because scene kids have moved onto djent ever since Archotects became sellouts, Periphery happened and then it suddenly became cool to rip off Misery Signals and Meshuggah instead of Eighteen Visions and Underoath.
But at the time it came out the sort of shit it was doing was still relevant but just barely kicking.

i think if an album like this dropped in 2018 it would feel a bit more fresh since it's not a common style of core now.

Not really a fan of djent aside from early Reflections and a couple After the Burial albums. Maybe I'll give Periphery another chance
Yeah I was hardly a WIM fan back in the day. Basically swore off most metalcore from 2012-14 and it took a few years to start listening to these bands again.
I get why people aren't a big fan of this band and they are at best a b-tier scene band

Problem with dropping a record like this now is that it would require doing a ton of work re-building an audience. I know a WIM reunion has been rumored for a few years but I don't think there's actual space in the scene for them aside from a small tour and maybe a single/ep.

It would be fresh in the way that taking a moldy piece of fruit from behind the counter and placing it back on the shelf would be fresh.
This style of core is better left behind the counter.

Eh scenecore should come back but it should be done without all the commercialism. I think the saturation of bands killed it more than anything. Hard to find and care about the "good" stuff when there's 50x other bad albums mudding everything else up.

yeah, and melodicore should make a comeback for once, sick of how tough it is to find newer bands along the lines of Phinehas and Miss May I

Too bad this band isn't still around in lieu of the demise of Tyler Carter.

As long as they put out stuff like Numbers instead of this

I actually didn't know until recently that it's Caleb Shomo from Beartooth who sings the ending verse on With Our Friends Behind Us. He sounds almost exactly like the guy who did the cleans on this album.
